March 2020

Brothers and Sisters with Spring Break upon us watch out for the kids while driving. If you and your family are planning a getaway for Spring Break have a safe trip. If you are interested in watching the vote count for IBEW Local 69 Officers, the Election Judge will be counting the votes at the Union Hall located at 1408 N. Washington on March 2nd at approximately 10:00 am.

There should be a NLRB Settlement posted at the Taylor, TX., Service Center. The settlement is in regards to the Company not allowing bargaining unit member’s union representation during an investigatory meeting. If you are asked to attend a meeting with Management behind closed doors always ask for a union steward to be present. You can bet the Company will always have more than one person in the meeting.

The Nolan Watson arbitration that was scheduled for Wednesday, February 26th, has been resolved by settlement. There is mediation scheduled on March 18th, for Jeff Price’s termination. Jeff was terminated while on an off system mutual assistance assignment. The Union and Company met on February 20th, for the first quarter meeting on Safety, Health, and Staffing. Attending for the Company was Jerrell Adams, Steve Barnes, Tony Flores, Barbara Gibson, Chris Ward, Tim Burk, Jacqui Spicer, Robbie Middleton, and Laura Burditt. Attending the meeting for our Local Union was Bobby Reed, Ross McAuley, Charlie Jackson, Jon Jones, Rodney Deleon, Justin Ford, George Davis II, Layton Gentry, and Don Gray. The Union Committee requested the Company look into purchasing cover up that fits the work situation instead of threading line hoses for example. The new Chevrolet trucks were discussed. The Company stated they are looking at other options. The Company stated they will work on getting hand tools available in all storerooms. If you continue having problems getting tools to perform your job please make the union office aware of the problem.

I would like to thank everyone that contributed when we passed the hat for Jerry Babson, Max Mazza, and Tanner Kennedy. You guys came through with $1200.00. We divided the $1200.00 three ways then we were surprised with another $1065.00 from Justin Troxell and our brothers at Ward Electric that passed the hat. This money will be divided between the three families as well. You guys make me proud to be IBEW.

Until next time work safe and may God bless you, your family, and the IBEW.

Bobby W. Reed
