Sisters & Brothers,
I want to wish all of you a heartfelt happy and safe Labor Day. I also ask that you take a moment and consider why we have a Labor Day.
The current working landscape is vastly different than it was for the first Labor Day in 1882, and we must not forget that. The Labor Movement, through sweat and blood, fought for several rights that too many of us take for granted. I’m talking about eight-hour workdays, 40-hour work weeks, the weekends, paid holidays, overtime pay, protections on the job, child labor laws and much more. I hope everyone enjoys their much deserved day off.
I have received lots of phone calls, texts and emails regarding transferring between service centers. I have set up a meeting with Oncor to discuss this issue. If you are interested in transferring please fill out a service center preference letter and email it to ibewloc69@aol.com.
We have had several members hospitalized due to COVID-19. I ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Please take precautions that YOU deem necessary to keep you and your family safe. We will get through this hopefully sooner than later.
I ask that you continue to work safe and be your brother’s keeper.
Until next time,
Ross McAuley
